How to prepare for reasoning Section of IBPS Clerk Exam?
The reasoning is one of the interesting and scoring sections for IBPS PO and IBNPS Clerk Exam. The questions are based on logic and not on mathematical calculations only. It does not require any formulae to learn rather it works in the practice of various topics to gain speed and accuracy.
Although one need not to learn formulae to prepare for reasoning section but still it is not very easy to prepare. Candidates need to be focused and stay alert and have analytical thinking.
There are some tricks which one must follow to crack the reasoning section these are:
Know the latest syllabus:
Visit the official notification of the exam and go through the syllabus of this subject. Understand the pattern of asking the questions by going through the previous year exam papers. Questions are generally asked on the basis of verbal and non-verbal reasoning, logical reasoning and numerical reasoning.
The topics for verbal reasoning include arithmetical reasoning, inserting the missing character, number, ranking and time sequence, analogy, classification, number series, coding-decoding, input-output, blood relations, direction sense test, logical Venn diagrams, sitting arrangements, mathematical operations, syllogism, logical sequence of words, alphanumeric sequence and puzzles.
The topics for nonverbal reasoning include mirror image, water image, paper folding, paper cutting, counting the number of figures, dice problems, five figures series, missing figure series, analogy, and classification. The topics for analytical reasoning include statement and conclusions, statement and arguments, statement and assumptions, cause and effect, courses of action and inference.
Learn formulas, tables, and shortcuts:
There are some questions which need to be solved by applying formula and methods. Candidates must have the basic knowledge of the concepts to apply the short tricks effectively.
Daily practice mock tests:
In order to score good one must practice all types of questions by taking up the mock tests. These tests are the compilation of assorted questions at one place. Attempt these tests by setting a timer so that you can complete the test in the stipulated time.
Make a proper strategy to solve your problem
During the exam, devise a strategy for solving questions. The first attempt those questions which are easy and less time-consuming such as classification/odd pair, series completion, direction based/direction sense, number, ranking and time, sequence questions etc.
After that, move towards medium difficulty level questions such as syllogisms, inequalities, blood relations, coding-decoding, data sufficiency etc. At last, attempt the time-consuming questions like seating arrangement, complex puzzle, floor puzzle, input-output etc. Remember, the idea is to attempt all the questions and not answer all the questions.
Also Take Professional Help: Everyone knows that good preparation is always done through Self Study. But at some point of time, good professional coaching is required for doing the exam preparation. The exam experts at preparation platforms like can help you gear up for the Reasoning Section quite well.
